Looking back on it all, everything was so clear. We had invited it, hell practically begged for it. The Barbarian King and his portals. The Green Dragon Dynasty and their need for bigger and stronger foes. The madness that had driven off the Northern King, and saw the Regent ursup the throne.

Luckily this manifestation is small….it must gather its resources and gain strength. I fear the day that it gains the power I saw through the view when Madam Alice showed me the truth behind the world. I have seen the infinity of gibbering madness that awaits the unwary. I have watched the SoulStealer stuff spirits in its maw like candies.

And now that it had made it’s presence known, King Axident unwittingly taunted it with his “chocolaty nugat of the Gods”. If another God claimed it, then the Evil must obtain or destroy it. And worse, to deny the Abomination the very thing you offer it. Dark times must surely come.

Madness and monsters have begun claiming the land. Insanity rears its heads every where an EHer goes...even as far as the Gathering of Clans. With this Chaos, a new power begins to arise.....magic has changed completely along with the rules of the universe. The Abomination is gaining power, remaking the world as it sees fit.
Or could it be a benevolent power, giving us the tools to fight IT?

Battles go on, MWG has started building a weapon, but how does one kill a God? Is it even possible? Manticore skin as parchment, Harpy feathers as quills.....this is to be a powerful object. I pray the Evil's minions do not find out about it.

The intense heat wave continues. The Lake at MWG has almost dried up, revealing a Kraken. How did such a monster come to inhabit a fresh water lake so far inland? Was it placed there to spy on us? Is it even a Kraken or one of the Abomination's minions? No matter, it must be destroyed. I go now to lead a party against it. May the God's smile on us

Praise Be, the beast has been destroyed. A good third of my party was wiped out, but we prevailed in the end. Magicians collected the ink from the dying beast, we can now pen the plans for the weapon. I hope that an expert can be found. Funny thing, the beast gurgled at us toward the end, was it trying to surrender? If so, then I have killed a non combatant, an cardinal sin for a Paladin. Maybe the world is not all black and white, but multiple shades of grey

On the rolling hills of Bright Forge, the Axidental King had been stalking the oft blood soaked battle grounds where the good ship Fleshalones had made port.

The day began simply enough, a few bouts on the practice field, a few injuries, the usual. Then an Ironman tourney was wrought and Alphonse fell into the melee with vicious excitement. Despite the more honorable nature of most of his opponents, the Pirate-Bard found the backs of a few opponents waiting of a strong thrust from his sword tip. Despite the accretion that this was a civil tournament, the reeves quickly reminded the competitors that alls fair in love and war. Still, the excitement ended without total victory for The Winkler, though he did show better then usual.

During the battle, Alphonse noticed the Snicker King acting quite strangely. His attacks were quick, and the fluid motion of his maneuvers reminded one of the a sea creature, much like a...... he put the thought from his mind. Although there had been dark dealings surrounding the coronation, it simply wasn't possible that one so noble as King Axident would fall to the sorcery of the Old Ones, right? As the day wore on, this assumption proved to be false.

Donning a hat made of a living embodiment of Cthulu, King Axident took to the fields in the company of his guards. The magics of the old ones infused the already powerful warriors, they tore though Bright Forge with a might unseen since the Great Barbarian Horde rampaged across the Celestial Kingdom. Despite the odds, the various inhabitants of the Emerald Hills took to arms to combat the foe.

This of course seemed extremely foolish to Alphonse de Oso, Pants-less Pirate-Bard of Bright Forge. One doesn't simply overcome defeat a dark-god infused King's Guard plus a squid wearing king. In fact, he was already beginning to pack up the Dragon's Den, his shoppe of various legally-obtained goods, and set sail for greener pastures, perhaps Midnight Sun or MourningWood Glen. Then, of course, just as the last chests were being secured, he overheard whispers of a treasure guarded by the infected warriors.

Once again, the allure of treasure lead Alphonse to do something rather fool-hardy quest, he enlisted with the other fighters to combat the tentacled menace. Teaming up with Sir Elder Vermilion and {Mysterious fighter in Purple and Black whose name escapes him.....He's' had lots of rum to repress the memories of that day}, Alphonse took to the field with a sword in his hand and a song on his lips. It should be also noted that his fighting group were petitioned as mercenaries to protect Eowyn and Aleric, that being said, he quickly left them to their own devices as he went off in search of treasure...... as should be expected.

The Bard did in fact find two chests, which were deftly looted while the infected were busy slaying the others. Inside were magic dispelling orbs to repulse the might of Cthulu. Clad in his best deck shoes, Alphonse knew his duty was to try to restore the King to sanity, despite the grave nature of such an endeavor. He felt almost, brave, and honorable, a feeling which shortly left him when Sir Logan aimed swords at the pirate. One could not say Alphonse was slow, he quickly tore past the knight, hoping other more Brave[Read:Idiotic] warriors would redden the guard's blade whilst the pirate escaped.

Still, Alphonse did not leave the fight, he instead watched the battle, looking for a proper opening to utilize his talents. That very opportunity arose as he saw Sir Sutra mow down fighter after fighter with the incredible accuracy of his bow . Now Sutra on any given day could best Alphonse at a melee, but looking closely, the Bard could see this particular King's Guard did not carry a spare sword. A smile crept on his lips as he belted the incantation for his Song of Deflection, choosing the Battle Hymn of the Republic to guide his nimble acrobatics. Skirting the squid-headed King of the Emerald Hills, The Winkler waited for Sir Sutra to become separated from the rest of the enemies. Brocktree had begun to rage forward, rocks in hand and Alphonse took his chance as the King moved to engage the Badger.

Beginning with a few steps forward, Alphonse worked his way up the hill toward his arrow slinging foe. As Sir Sutra's notice caught the Pirate, the Bard surged forward, moving into a full sprint. Despite the physical exertion, he did not dare end his Bardic Song as he had seen often how quick Sir Sutra could fire a bow whilst running. Hymn bolding his strides, Alphonse eventually overtook the knight and attacked him with the ferocity of a frustrated general who has finally conquered then a well defended city. With his foe at his feet, Alphonse moved to capitalize on the downed guard.

With the dispelling magic in hand, Alphonse sent four bolts toward the King, three of which broke upon his shield. Though his aim was true, the Pirate had not the ability to fully release the king. Defeated, Alphonse rifled through the ruins a bit longer and after finding nothing of value, began to contemplate what this loss would mean for Bright Forge, and the Kingdom of Emerald Hills.

He squinted up at the blue sky. White fluffy clouds lurched along their daily routine. The noon sun reigned on high. The chirping of crickets and rustling grass sang to him. The smell of ebbing summer tickled his nose. Sutra smiled.

With a slight grunt, the aging figure pulled himself together and sat up. He scanned the tree line. Silence. The sound of a stream pulsing just over the hill. He spied it upon first arriving to this foreign land. He recalled when the Emerald Hills could count its holding on four fingers. Today, the kingdom's reach spread out over miles and acres and the sweat laced brows of hundreds. Hundreds of men, women, and children he has yet to meet. Hundreds he has seen come and go. He couldn't recall the day he lost count.

Slowly, Sutra stood and stretched out wide; shooing the knots and pain away. This aging thing was not what he expected.

His left hand reached to massage his right shoulder. Wet and matted fabric met his fingertips. His guard tabard had been cleanly cut. A shock of dark red starred back at him. Pivoting, he realized his golden yellow guard tabard was soaked in glistening blood. Sutra braced himself as confused panic gripped his mind. His shallow breaths slowly came under control as he examined his own body for broken flesh or shattered bone. He was whole.

Sutra spun around at the unexpected grumble. His eyes darted back and forth, finding nothing. He had crossed paths with many an earthly and supernatural foe, but he had never heard any of them make the sound he swore he had just experienced.

His ancient horse-bow lay broken in the tall grass a few yards away. His tattered quiver lay depleted. He scanned the horizon once more, peering beyond the golden green fields. A plume of black smoke billowed into the heavens a mile or two away. Bright Forge.

Gripping his shattered bow, Sutra's lips barely moved as he gently exhaled over the splintered weapon. Tendrils of creaking living wood coiled themselves around the bow, mending itself. Sutra slung his repaired bow across his chest and retrieved his quiver. He produced a small drinking skin hidden inside and took a sip.

Sutra focused his energy and visualized his destination. He disliked cheating reality like this, but returning to the Forge's town center was critical. With mind and body aligned, he prepared for departure. His right foot slowly moved forward, his center of mass following suit. The tell-tale sensation of weightlessness signaled his success at teleporting.

The chirping of crickets and rustling grass sang to no one. The ebb and flow of summer crept on.

The world melted away as he stepped forward. His center of gravity no longer obeyed the rules of the physical world. He was and yet wasn't. He wondered if this was what sleeping the last sleep felt like. How he yearned for a horse. Mule even. Anything was better than ceasing to exist in one spot, only to reappear in another. Unnatural.

Images of his past flitted past him as he traveled in the Ether. Images of smiling friends and grinning foes. The sensation was a flux of emotions for him. He reminded himself to ask others if their experience was similar. He hadn't noticed his blurring vision, until he could barely make out the outlines of even his most prized memories.

Words could not describe the deafening screech that seemed to reach into his mind, eviscerating the process of travel and sensation. He was not alone.

"ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"

Sutra called upon every ounce of courage and strength as the words carved themselves into the air around him. Planting his feet, his lips mouthed the words of prayer his mother had planted unto his heart. He called upon the protection of the First and the Last. He was not alone.

The pulsating grumble kept its distance, encircling him like a hunting party. The Paladin stood firm.

"ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" the voices echoed.

Glimpses of a celestial prison, radiating every color seen and unseen. The sleeping ancient waited.

Sutra remembered.

Men and women, brandishing majicks, broken armor, and blood soaked steel; toiled in the field of battle. The flicker of the royal gold and green banner defiantly stood against the uprising of the populace.

The crowned man stood surrounded by his bloodthirsty guard. The blinding lights of flung majicks lit up the dark sky. Sutra watched as throngs of bodies fell against the blades and arrows of the four men dressed in gold and blood. The king commanded the loyalty of his defenders, as shapes and shadows darted between the protection of crumbled stone pillars.

A kneeling figure stopped next to him as he watched the onslaught. He watched as she ripped at the ground with her bloody hands, before pulling out a small glowing box. Her frantic eyes blazed as bright as the sun, a small orb of golden silver pulsating in her cupped hands. He couldn't tell if she was delirious or desperate.

The woman looked up and stared at him. Her tear stained eyes seemed to plead for help. Compassion filled his heart. A weak smile formed on her weary face. Sutra reached out to comfort the women. The flick of hot blood almost blinded him. A long wooden arrow shaft protruded just under her left eye. Her grunted gasp and surprised gaze would haunt him till his last breath. She fell back, the golden orb flickered out and faded away.

Sutra reeled back as he prepared to avenge her unjust demise. He could make out the outline of the archer. The Paladin roared as his feet ground into the blood-soaked earth, lunching towards the aggressor. The distant figure came into focus, through black smoke and glamour. Leaping into the air, the figure turned to face Sutra and nocked an arrow pointed at his center of gravity. Sutra's roar was immediately muffled as he stared back at himself. The expressionless king's guard didn't even squint as the arrow escaped the sinew string. Sutra's blade cut the air as it came down towards his doppelganger's brain-pan.

Earth rushed up and cruelly embraced the falling Paladin. Disoriented, Sutra frantically flung his sword about as a stream of curses emanated from his insides.

He knelt in the familiar town center of Bright Forge. A few familiar faces stared back at him in unexpected shock as he suddenly appeared out of nothing.

Sutra could feel his insides escape him through mouth and nose. Gasping for air in-between his sickness and panic, the earth rushed up to meet him once more.

Welcomed darkness.

White fluffy clouds lurched along their daily routine. The noon sun reigned on high. The chirping of crickets and rustling grass sang. The ebb and flow of summer crept on.

The Feast of Samhain rapidly approaches. How strong has the Evil become. What will it do when the veil thins? Monsters and weirdness abound on that night, will it be a feast for the Beast?

I fear for this Kingdom. The most improbable of events begin to occur with startling regularity. Plans continue with the Weapon. I fear the Enemy has found out about it, and will either disrupt its creation, or steal it to slaughter other Elder Gods. What a fell thought, Cthulu as the One True God.

Expidition to Ryleth was a success. The Guardians have been defeated. Alric found an item, a cloak that shimmers and hides his form. Trey found a walking staff that glowed with an eldritch light, says it makes him feel stronger.
With the cold snap the Kingdom is enduring, the level of madness is dropping. Is it something we did on the expedition? Or is it simply the cold keeping people indoors? Either way, this can only be good for the Kingdom.
Plans continue for the Weapon. I only hope now that we have no need of it.
