The Travelers Guide to the Realms of Amtgardia
Chapter Two
The Hills and the Kings of Emerald

"The Kingdom of the Emerald Hills lies within a valley ringed on all sides by large green hills and mountains. The Kingdom was the second kingdom of the continent of Amtgardia. It's history is a bloody one and it is possibly the most powerful kingdom in the realm. From the first days of the Freemen to the reigns of Good Queen Fauna the Kingdom of the Emerald Hills has been the standard bearer for civilization.

When the Dark Saint Sir Nevron Dreadstar came to the Emerald Valley he met Queen Mother Reyna Arafael and her people the Freemen. The Freemen had been locked in a bitter but evenly matched battle for control of the valley with a tribe of crystalline aboriginals known as the Emerald Men. The Dark Saint saw great potential for his own people of the Burning Lands or as they are known in the old tongue the Bruntmen. He swore his sword and the swords of his people to the Freemen and their cause, and returned with Sir Delphos the Living Shadow and five legions of Bruntmen. The combined forces of the Bruntmen and the Freemen pushed the tribes of the Emerald Men out of the Emerald Valley, and north to the moors that border the Emerald Hills themselves. The Freemen forces slaughtered the Emerald Men to the last one, and Queen Reyna became the first Queen of the new Kingdom of the Emerald Hills. It has been said that the Emerald City that lies at the center of the Emerald Valley was built from the slaughtered bodies of the Emerald Men, and the Dread Moors were so named for the slaughter that took place there and the ghosts that supposedly haunt the land."

Fionnigan Hellblazer stared at the passage for a long time before rereading it.

“The Dark Saint saw great potential for his own people of the Burning Lands or as they are known in the old tongue the Bruntmen. He swore his sword and the swords of his people to the Freemen and their cause, and returned with Sir Delphos the Living Shadow and five legions of Bruntmen. The combined forces of the Bruntmen and the Freemen pushed the tribes of the Emerald Men out of the Emerald Valley, and north to the moors that border the Emerald Hills themselves.” claimed the book.

Fionnigan closed the book to look at the front cover being sure to keep his place held in the text. The Travelers Guide to the Realms of Amtgardia said letters on the front of the leather bound tome. The author beneath being one Thomas PaChesus IV. Fionnigan had been hearing the tales of the Dark Saint for years, since the first days he set foot in the kingdom. He had never once heard that Sir Nevron ever claimed the first kingdom as his home or the Bruntmen as his people. The thought occurred to Fionnigan that Sir Nevron would scoff at the idea.

Fionnigan opened the book back to the offending page, and pulled a quill from the inkwell sitting on his desk. He scratched deep dark lines through the offending lines.

“There that should do for this copy at least. I may need to find all copies of this poor excuse for a book of histories, and edit all those I can find. Perhaps burning them would be an easier option.” Fionnigan thought to himself.

As he pondered what to do with this piece of poorly composed propaganda there was a knock at the door to his study.

“Enter.” said Fionnigan.

The door opened with a creak and Tor his clockwork golem stepped into the study.

“Master Hellblazer, Master Healer Somerstorm is here to see you, sir.” said the golem his monotone voice ringing inside the metal hulk of his body.

“Ah, yes. He must have gotten my missive. Well no use standing there like one o'clock half struck, Tor, send him in. Oh and another thing, Tor.” Fionnigan picked up the Hitchhiker's Guide and stood up from his chair.

“Have a courier take this to Sir Nevron's keep. There are some historical misnomers in there I think he would be very interested in reading.” said Fionnigan as he scribbled a quick note on a small piece of parchment that he left in the front pages of the book.

Tor crossed the room to the desk, and took the book from the necromancer. He then turned and walked back to the door opening it.

“I will send Master Summerstorm in now, sir.” said Tor before exiting the room.
