Alphonse didn't consider himself a bad man, nor an evil man, only self-interested. He was a Pirate, sure, but over the months since finding port in the Emerald Hills the Winkler had made many friends and allies. Sure he might have stabbed some in the back and ran off with the loot, but in the grand scheme of things, what person hasn't? That being said, he found more and more that he stabbed less, and held the line more. It was a change, not a bad change, but a change that began to color the way Alphonse de Oso saw the world around him.

The months since the Coronation of the Axidental King had been ones of Terror. The evil that spread from Atoka had reached even the fires of Bright Forge, leaving smote fields and burned ports. The Pants-less Pirate still remembers the day he ran down Cthulu controlled Sir Sutra and leave a broken bow at the Knights feet, all to protect his home park.
The Dwarf Purge of Midnight Sun had been an outlet of such evil. Sir Quintahr Woodhaven had been captured, and impersonated by what some say was a Vampire, those they had been driven from the Hills for Generations now. It was during the war that Alphonse had been under the control of a foul Yellow Light, marching in step and raising sword against the fair Dwarf Med.

Alphonse had recovered from that day, and he did so with a fierce anger he knew not he had. The evil that had spread across the land was destroying his new home, and worst of all, meant loot was so very, very hard to come by. It was after awaking in the Midnight Sun's woods that he began to form a plan. He, The Pirate-Bard of Bright Forge would drive out the tentacled evil and make some profit doing it.

The First step was the Election as Baron Pro-tem. The Winkler was in all honesty surprised, and deeply touched that the people of Bright Forge would elect him almost unanimously (He silenced the one dissenting voice.) To believe that a people would willingly elect a pants-less backstabbing pirate to rule over them was, in a word, incredible. That being said, his position allowed him to begin plotting with the seal of office to back him up.

The Second step was to break the heaviest fount of Evil, that being the darkness that flowed through the Snicker King. This happened more of a matter of circumstance than anything else. During the End Reign festivities, Alphonse had found himself in the ranks of Sir Forest's army, Championed by The Hellblazer Fionnigan. It was in the melee that Alphonse and an Ally form Midnight Sun, found the fallen body of King Axident behind the Enemy gate. The battle back to camp was hard fought, but ally after ally stepped forward to cover the retreat. At camp, with the supervision of The Hellblazer, Alphonse found the strength and power to purge the Old Ones' influence from the King's mind and body.

Step Three was challenging, not because of any physical difficulty, but this required a skill Alphonse had not really used, Politics. Not so much the type of politics that influences votes or lays low an officeholder, this was simply a gathering of allies. Alphonse had met many fair folk in his short time, and had fought alongside many as well. It was these people, the people he called friends, that Alphonse recruited from.

Despite the purge of King Axident, evil still flowed. Fionnigan had once told Alphonse that their were dark items of power that lay in the north. Sanctified in the blood of the fallen, and blessed in the unholy darkness that flows from their belief in the Death Knight Saint.

Now, as the winter turns ever colder, the Allies of the Pirate's inquisition stood around a map of the Emerald Hills, Alphonse's favorite dagger, hand-crafted by Atheris herself, was driven into the point of first attack.

Eagleshire, we are coming.

-Alphonse "The Winkler" de Oso:
Baron pro-tem of Bright Forge,
Speaker of the Pirate's Inquisition

Alphonse thought about today’s events. The Inquisitor, after discussing with his regent, had offered Lord TuK! a seat at his table for Bright Forge’s holiday event. He offered hospitality and amnesty for the day. It was the civilized way to go about sorting issues. This was the way the Greeks handled business, the Romans as well. Even amongst Pirates there are guidelines for engagement. Had TuK! followed those? No, of course not. He was one not guided by tradition nor rules. Alphonse could respect that, to a point.

The Winkler decided that it was time for a change. He had approached the inquisition in a manner befitting someone who wished only to prop up the Kingdom, to burn away the infection that raged in the land. He had done so with openness, allowing his advisories to consider the options and respond appropriately. Yet this was not the way things were done in the Emerald Hills. Goodness does not last in a land of shadow. Alphonse began to think about the cross roads he was at. There was no consideration to turn back, he had far to much work to do. He imagined two paths, one illuminated by a bright light, another ringed in fire.

There is more power in fire than pretty lights.

His Inquisition would advance, but the path would be different, darker. He stood for a moment at his desk, and sipped a small glass of black rum. There was much more planning to do, and so he stepped forth from his hold. He had a former Grand Inquisitor to speak with.

All are Equal under the light of the Radiant Skull,
Hail to the Inquisition.

-Alphonse the Winkler
