Qualifications

It’s this time, again, where new, fresh faces blessedly relace out the weary, six month abused ones. Hope springs forth for untapped potential presented in mere months! Just one hurdle stands in these brave souls way - Qualifications! As Regent, it’s my job to make sure that they are challenged just enough to weed out the faint of heart, while restraining this final obstacle from discouraging dedicated candidates. This is a job I take seriously - as has all Regents before me. It is one of our final stands in a most honorable position. Through this event, we have the power to shape future reigns. This is not something that should be taken lightly. So, it is with great esteem and gravity that I present you with Qualifications for Reign 50.

Thank you and sincerely,
Zelodie, Kingdom Regent & Royal Pain in the A$$

P.S. Items from Dragonmaster XXXI will be accepted as Qualls items for a limited time only.

J. MAIN CATEGORY: AMTGARD HERALDRY
Displayed on whatever medium, scrolls, favors, banners or garb and entries must be described in heraldic terms as much as possible. For Heraldry the score is based two main elements. First, how appealing the design is to the eye and how well presented it is and second on how well the items fulfills the purpose of Heraldry. An item which is well made and beautiful that only happens to have a design on it would score less than an equally high quality item where the symbols displayed had meaning and relevance. Entrants in this category should do their homework before presenting the items.

Thanks. Last time I ran, there was a minimum number of major categories required, but it looks like that is no longer the case.

Does this mean that entrants must enter an item in each of the 10 major cultural categories? If so, what is the reason behind this? Because this is not required per the Corpora:

"VIII Kingdom Events
A. Crown Qualification Tournament (AKA Crown Quals)
1. Suggested date held: one or two weekends before Crown Elections
2. Autocrats: the two highest ranking club officers not running for high office (one to run
war events, one to run cultural events)
3. Any Amtgardian, regardless of residency, may enter
4. Crown Election Contenders are required to enter a minimum of 10 (ten) war events
and 10 (ten) cultural subcategories.
In addition, to successfully qualify, a contender's
cultural entries must average at least a 3 (three) on a 5 (five) point scale. Only the
contender's highest 2 (two) entries in a subcategory may be figured into this average
5. Crown Election Contenders must be reeves qualified and pass an Emerald Hills
Corpora test
6. All cultural entries must conform to the following criteria
a No more than 3 (three) entries per person per subcategory
b The same item can not be entered in two or more subcategories
c An item can not be entered in more than one Kingdom Level Crown Quals
d Additional restrictions as specified by the cultural event Autocrat
7. Awarding outstanding entries Orders of the Warrior, Dragon, Owl, Garber, and Rose
is encouraged
8. More specific rules for these qualifications shall be put out by the Autocrats at least
six weeks prior to the date set for Crown Quals"

*Emphasis mine.

UPDATE: No Alcohol. I was unable to reserve the enclosed space. So we are going to hold Quals at Lake Wichita Park. I have posted directions below. There is one difference. YOU DO NOT TURN LEFT AT LANGFORD. Continue until the road curves to the right and turn in left (the lake is straight ahead). There is a huge dirt mound. I will have some methods for heating foods. I will have a plugin hot plate as well as a Coleman stove.
