Hey everyone, Just a couple days left before Amtgard Food Fight 2016 is in the books. I know a lot of you have been doing all sorts of great things at your fields and else where to raise food and funds for our local food banks all through out Emerald Hills. I've loved hearing of auctions, tournaments, battle games, Iron Chef competition, offering classes in fighting and a&s classes, etc.. The list goes on and on. But, now is the time to start reporting what we have raised. If you are a food fight rep for your field please post here the totals of what your respective fields have raised no later than 11pm Friday night, Sept. 30, so that I may tally our results and post them on the E-Sam forum where the reporting is taking place. I will be posting a link in all of our facebook groups to this forum here to make sure the word gets out. We are in the home stretch. If there is more you can give or do, please do so.
Below are the rules for the food fight for those who need a refresher.
For every dollar ($1) raised, it equates to approx. $13 dollars in buying power through sponsorships and charitable discounts already in place supporting many of the charities we will raise donations for. The tally is based on that buying power.
This year we are shifting to a points based system and have expanded the volunteer program.
$$$$ = 1 point per dollar raised
Food donations = one-tenth point per item raised.
Other donations (eqpmt, real estate, etc.) = one-tenth point per estimated value per the receiving charity.
Volunteer time = 5 points per hour and cap of 250 hours per kingdom AND cannot exceed the total points awarded for cans+cash (Volunteer time must be spent in direct support of the food charity.)
An item/effort can only count once. Ex. Working to raise money and donations, only the donations count and not the time spent. In keeping with the mission and intent of the Amtgard Food Fight, groups are encouraged to hold activities at the local level/parks and not base their contributions solely on the larger events. While this is often easier (often may prove more profitable) the relationships built in the local community through a grass roots program of local support are often just as vital.
In Service, Smiley Emerald Hills Food Fight Rep.
