She traced his lips with the wet rose petal.

He shuttered awake.

"For a moment, just for a moment..."

He knew she would come again, wanting to impart to him a new ocean of unachievable wishes. She wanted him to dream with her again. He had come to the helpless realization that she had grown lonely. Maybe even slightly afraid.

The clouds were as intangible as words flowing from a mystics trance and as solid as the unwelcome caress of an angry fist.

She lead him back to her domain, dancing playfully in the clouds. Sutra had grown weary of all her tricks and wanted a definite answer. Her ambiguous riddles served as makeshift replies all the while he yearned for something real.

The ancient temple stood ominously defiant against the piercing blue sky. The white washed pillars paid tribute to forgotten gods, inscribed with a foreign dialect. More art than religious tomes now.

Gazing down into the verdant valley, he could see where the horizon gently split in two. The oceans shimmering shades of grayish blue and a dull hue of sky blue.

Small villages sprinkled the deep forest. Sutra wondered what lives and stories were safely tucked away from her, though he knew better.

She had taken to this temple and proclaimed herself a goddess of old. The peoples here would not question her authority. They would pay her in tributes of flesh and blood. Gold and oaths.

It was not enough to fill the emptiness in her heart. Never was.

"The wind carries word from mother's forests that the sidhe have grown in spirit." Her melodious voice flowed effortlessly.

The red man closed his eyes and took a deep breath contemplating his answer.

"If I know what transpires at this moment with your allies, surely your king must have knowledge of it too?" Her breathy comment trailed off into a silenced giggle.

"I am sure he is aware that the full moon and the words of our shamans weigh too heavy on us to ignore..." the dark child replied.

"I see.."

The remained awkwardly motionless realizing their visit had just begun.
