Elder, as BOD President ,posted approval because it is a dollar tourney and taxes have to be taken care of for this and ALL fundraisers in the Kingdom. I know as a member of the BOD that this was discussed and approved.

HOWEVER, Elder is not the War O Crat for this event....Myth is and he made a very reasonable request of you. You want this sorted out? Myth handed you the tools to do so.

Thank you for wanting to run this game, yes there is interest, and I love the concept myself of raising funds for bath rooms. Plus the game idea is great.

The theme of the May Day event is TEAMS ....and sins work mostly alone. Can you
re work your game to encompass this ...or would this great game be better moved to ER?
I know because I am now the Feast O Crat for May Day and brainstorming a lot;) Yet even my ideas have to be approved ..and I'm fine with that.

Your energies would be far better spent in resolving this issue than in throwing a tantrum here in public ..but hey we all can use the live entertainment.

Fenris,

You came to me with a skeletal idea that sounded like a good base. Yes.

You never came to me with this, or any, write up.

This I would not have approved as written *for this event,* nor would I have taken involvement in the decision away from the war-crat.

Saying that an *idea* sounds good is not giving it approval before a write-up.

As far as talking to you in person, before you even go there. Haven't had much of a chance, you haven't signed in at KP since the OP.

So,
What is or I guess was, The Issue Here...

Was it Orchid saying one thing, but really meaning another?
Or
Was it Fenris not following the chain of cammand?
Or
Is it that the Sin game dosen't go with the theme?
Or
Is it that not one of the "Crats" had the time to read the write-up that's been there since Feb 22nd?

Seems like "No you can't" isn't much of a "compromise"...
But Hey... That's just my take.

I hope this isn't about Power-play Politics or Personal Issues...
Cause I think everyone knows how I feel about those subjects.

So, Orchid.... Your Highness,
How bout letting Fenris run her "Fundraiser" at your Mayday Event...
Wouldn't that be Fun...???
I know I'd show up for That...!!!!

just sayin'

this "fundraiser" was one of the only reasons I was gonna show up for this "event"...well, on to bigger and better things now.
as for Chain of command, and "the way things are done" I call BS, point of example is Sir Ice running Friday night events at Midreign, just cause he wanted to.
Power corrupts and all.....

Just a quick question here. I've been involved in this for a couple of years ---when did the rules changes or when were they instituted --- that REQUIRE someone to get PERMISSION to run a game or tourney at any event? Just because the aforementioned 'game' doesn't follow the 'theme' of the event shouldn't preclude it from not being allowed to be played.

Now back to the previous heated discourse...........

I don't think the problem is either. I am sure there is paperwork involved when it comes to fundraising tourneys, hence the difference between Ice running a game for fun rather than a game to raise money. Did he over-step his bounds? No. Is Fenris? I am not sure. I ain't the War-o-Crat. Is there a problem with a tourney for money? No. should there be a problem here? No. Let Fenris, Myth and Orchid work it out.

Logic and Reason,

Good luck.

Ya know…
I read through this over again and I just have to call Bull Shit on the whole thing.
What I’m reading is a Big Ass game of “* Mother May I”.
Oh, Fenris didn’t ask “permission”…
Oh, she didn’t submit her Game correctly…
Oh, Fenris didn’t go through the right “Chain of Command”…
Oh, her game isn’t the right “Theme”…
Oh, Fenris didn’t ask the right person at the right time in the right way…

Jeeezzz…!!!!
Just how many Hoops does someone/anyone have to Jump through for you people…
To Simply Run a Dollar Tourney/Assassin Game at an event… ANY EVENT…!!!
How would this game “interfere” with this Event?
Wouldn’t it bring more people into this event?
Wouldn’t it help raise some funds for the Bathroom Project?

To say, “No you can’t, because I said so” will certainly get you your way…
But it’s nothing more than a cop out, no more than flexing the control you feel your offices grant. Sure, you have every right to do so, but that doesn’t make it the right thing to do. After awhile, it starts to look “personal”…

I have seen these “power-plays” over and over again and again…
It reminds me of Burning Lands Claw Legion Politics.
I hated it 25 years ago and I hate it today.
It drives Good People away… Is that Really what You want?

What say you folks get over yourselves long enough to see that people are trying to help this Kingdom in the ways that they know how…???

OR

You could just stick with saying “NO”… “We Don’t need Your Help Fenris”…
And while you’re at it, just tell the rest of us that would have gone to the Event for the Sin Game the same thing…
Cause obviously, you can do it ALL yourselves…

Have Fun…!

[smilie=icon_cool.gif]

*seems to be a Lot of This lately…

“HEY…!!! You didn’t say Mother may I…!!!”

“MWG…!!! Go stand in the corner…!!!”

just sayin'

Rule's are made to be followed, if not all the proper steps were taken by the rules set down for the kingdom than what is the point in having them. I think the game concept is absolutely amazing and it would be an awesome idea for an event or fundraiser, but rules are rules.

“Rules are rules”, ya say…???
Boy, if I could count the number of times throughout history where someone has defended their own actions or inactions by quoting those words…
well the number would be astronomical! Too bad so few people learn from the mistakes made in the past and are doomed to repeat them.

IMO people who use this argument for ANYHTHING, are beings who are unable to think for themselves, think out of the box, make decisions on there own or simply carry on a deep philosophical discussion. They can only recite from a written script and if any question goes beyond their little card, they seem to just sputter the same phrase over and over again.

Oh wouldn’t it be so nice to just blindly follow rules. To not have to answer for your own stupidity because you were simply following the rules set in place when you arrived on the scene? But life is fluid and we have brains. And, as a species, we evolve and change. We challenge the norm and we change our own environment. We question our surroundings and we test our boundaries. And most of all, we fight against captivity. We fight against Control.

We fight against those who would control us, even on the most basic levels. Were we not the “misbehaved children” that we are, we would all still be slaves. We would be subjects with no rights and no opinions of our own. We might not even exist.

If we, as a Nation, would have followed the rules of England, then there would be no United States of America. If all the Africans who were captured and brought over the sea as slaves would have followed the Rules… they’d still be slaves!

If the Free Hills of the SCA would have followed the Rules… There would be No Amtgard Kingdom of the Emerald Hills. If the folks in El Paso who played this game before it had a name would have followed the “rules”… there would be No Amtgard at all.

Though the “Founding Fathers” of the USA are no longer alive to tell us all what they were thinking and feeling when they broke away from the British…
You folks in the Emerald Hills have some of the “Founders” right here alive and well, yet you seldom listen when those founders speak and follow their “rules” even less often.

Rules exist the serve the people…
People are not supposed to be slaves to the rules.

IMO… and I’m a Founder (like it matters)
You people have lost your way.
You’re lost in your Rules.
You’re lost in your own self-importance.
You’ve lost the reason. You’ve lost the spirit.
If you loose the rest, you’ll have lost everything…
and your Rules will be ALL you have left.

This kingdom was founded in the middle of the D/FW SCA territory…
From an “outlaw” shire, caught between two powerful Baronies…
Both Barons tried to cram their “rules” down the throats of the Free Hills.
And the Free Hills Rebelled…

That “Rebel Spirit” created the Emerald Hills.
You can re-write history, you can re-write corpora or the ROP…
You can even change the very core of the game-play.
But you can never Kill that “Spirit”.
And when you’ve pushed way too many rules down the throats of those who still have that “Rebel Spirit”…
they will Rebel.

It’s as simple as That…!!!

If you challenge people's illogical beliefs with logic, they often shrink up and turn inward. It's easier to leave a misconceived world view intact than address the fact that your own assumptions may be wrong.
