January 5th (Sat) 2008, Our first park day of 2008 went with a bang.....WOOT!!! We had ditching, mini-court to congrats to Champion Sir Clu, a Blast from the Past with a showing of Sir Qintahr, Damsel in Distress Battlegame thanks to Mari, and a Deep Woods Mutual Annhilation Battlegame....which was a blast, busted my hiney a few times out there but was well worth it. Thanks to Stormdancer and Zin for kiddo-watching.

Afterwards most of MWG accumulated at Kenta and Crimson's abode....Sir Clu held a discussion group for brain-storming ideas for future battlegames, park relics, and monsters. Thanks to all who showed up and hope the rest of the year keeps getting better.

Total signins was 27...very nice, only 2 were visitors.

And how many of the 25 park regulars were under 14?

the answer to that question is 7

2 wizards (sometimes 3)
1 archer
1 druid
2 sins (smiles at Sutra)
1 missle monk (with his arm should be a wiz)

not the overwhelming numbers that some people would have the kingdom believe, but 7 diehard do everything they can for the game kids. Every day i am bombarded with questions on abilities and ideas for quests and battlegames. I think that to deny them this game that they have worked so hard at for so long would be a disservice to them and their parents, and would lose us some valuable players and future resources. (Yes i know i am lumped in there with that statement as well)

Saturday January 12, 08. From now on I won't be posting the number of sign-ins since the main reason for this post is what's going on at the park.

Quite a bit of ditching mainly to keep us warm, mini-court, New Boat Battle Battlegame that had a few hitches with some tweaking it'll be even better. I for one enjoyed the new area and a different scenario. Thank you to the visitors that came out to our humble park, Trinity and Tangeena, Dizzy, Nevron, and Brigade. I'm sorry if I missed anyone. Oh yes, I almost forgot the improv.

Thank you Sir Clu our Champion on the battlegame idea.

A big thanks to Stormdancer and Aramis for keeping an eye on the little man so I could play.

Thank you to Zin for the yummie cookies.

so after an attempt to derail this thread, lets get back on track:

Jan 19, 2008

a very cold start to the day. Sir Gavin stepped up to the recruitment challenge and introduced Amaris (sp) to our group. Also Sieg brought out a lady friend (its her second week)

Sir Clu set up a game of a boat vs a hydra. (Yes the question of what a hydra was doing in the water was raised and the answer is: blame it on the writer's strike.) Various scenarios of this were run and fun was had by all. Thanks to all the guys/girls roped together to make this work

Visitors were Sir Brennon, talen, Fenris, Dizzy (who still hasnt been changed over to our park so still counts as a visitor)

Playing the Hydra was a hell of a fun time. Those of us that got to play a head or tail I know really enjoyed it. Can't wait to see what Clu has in store for next week. I might have to miss it but I'm sure it will be great whatever it is. There having some very fun battlegames down at MWG right now.

Yea .. i'm definitely down for any opportunity to play a beastie. Great time to be had, although I think the 2/1 Quest ratio was a BIT off ..

I was planning on hitting MS this week (it's been a while since I've been out there) .. but I found out I'll be at the office Saturday morning until noon .. which is on the North end of Arlington anyway .. so don't be surprised if I drop in again this week.

Lots of fun today. Started the "official amtgard time" at 1pm...little bit of ditching followed by a warlord battle. The Kids also ran a seperate version of this game.

Main battlegame in the greek theme was a caravan battle. The kids gamely volunteered to be our dignitaries and were escorted from nirvana to the "temple" Team a finished the route in 10min, Team B in 8 (mostly due to knowledge of the terrain) For the record: no children were harmed in the process of this game as they were game items and thusly off limits to combat.

Secondary battlegame was a mutual annaliation.

Thanks to eveyone for comming out

Good I was gonna call PETU (People for the Ethical Treatment of Underaged) to investigate, but I see you have it under control. :)

Fixed that for ya. We earned ourselves that victory something fierce. I remember breaking off and keeping Asmodeus and Nettle busy while you guys escorted/fought off the warriors amoungst the raiders and ran the kids up there. It was extremely well-executed.

Feb 9:

Temple Battle. each team must race to the location and "pray" at the alter for 150 count. location is set up as a castle with 3 entrances. Afterward three teams signed up for jugging. New game for these guys, and a nice "friendly" match.

Very active give and take games today.

Thanks to Demos for accepting Kenta's recruitment challenge and bringing out two or three new players. Also had three walkups

Yeah, but I wonder if the "walk ups" will be there this week. Something tells me not so much.

Feb 16

Saturday turned out better than originally planned. Due to the weather, we decided to have a cultural day, indoors, at the home of one of the park officers. The MWG Regent showed people how to make some simple bracelets. The MWG PM showed us how to make Oriental 6-1 chainmaille armor (though we actually did 6-in-2). The MWG Sherriff showed us how to make arrows. Baron Kenta and Sir Gavvin demonstrated how to make polearms and swords. Stormdancer fed all attendees homemade Guinness stew and French bread for supper with Crimson, Asmodius, Zin, and Seal providing drinks and snacks. Thank you Duke Sir Clu for the clean up! Fun stories and history shared by all and a BIG "Welcome" to our latest and very promising new Amtgarder, Niro.

And a hearty "Thanks" to our gracious hosts for opening their home to all the adults and children for the cultural day that set the MWG record for running longer than any other park day.

Reporting,
Stormdancer, Btss.

FYI Yes we ALL took color credit
