I have a rectangular sheild that was the first thing I made. The stuff i used for the strap was an old belt, though i made it to fit snugly on my arm which is a bit thinner than some others. Under the constant fighting and stretching to my freinds arms it has busted for the second time, the first time it just slipped off the bolt, i fixed it with some duct tape and a staple gun. But now it has completley ripped and unless i tear off the cover, pull off the duct tape and foam, there is no way i can take out the bolts/screw more in.
Im left with two choices:
1.trash it and build a new sheild (circular is what im thinking, with better quality materials of course, 28" or 30")
2. find a way to get a new strap on it without screwing in more bolts.
For choice one im not sure of what to use as a core, I would want to avoid plywood if possible and lightness is preffered over stuctural integrity
choice two I have no idea of how to get a strap on other than screwing the two ends on. o.0
any help would be appreciated

Go with option 1. MAke a round shield to replace it. You'll be glad you did.
