Hey all,
As background, the BoD has been looking to bring EH into a 501c7 structure from an S Corp, and through substantial research we have determined that some structural changes need to happen prior to the board processing the corporate change. This Althing proposal is part of that, please feel free to ask questions or suggest any changes that are needed and I will happily clarify/discuss.
The sooner we can get these updates in action the sooner we can begin the corporate transition. Thank you!
Proposal: In order to show a clear limitation to our membership as justification for 501(c)(7) status we will need to update the membership requirements outlined in the corpora. o Add to section 3 (A): “4. Be a member of The Kingdom of the Emerald Hills, inc.” o Add to section 3: “D. Membership 1. In order to become a member to The Kingdom of the Emerald Hills, inc., an application for membership must be completed and provided to an Officer of the organization. 2. Approval of membership can be completed by a Monarch or Prime Minister of any level. 3. Approved membership applications must be maintained with a player’s waiver.”

Some more information of what this membership application might include, and under what curcumstances it is approved and the one applying will be informed/rejected? Will it only be approved upon the six months attendance or is the attendance requirement for membership waived by this action?

Hey Mezzie,
This document would be filled out initially on first play (like the waiver). It's a legally relevant doc similar to the waiver, so would be created/periodically reviewed by the BoD.
The acceptance would be immediate, currently we perform a similar membership requirement via "fill out this waiver, then you can play", but in order to be compliant as a c7 we need to be able to show a membership application that has the option to be rejected. (Perhaps "I've never been permanently barred from a LARP" as a criteria, but whatever is most relevant/in best fiduciary interest can work)
The important thing is it must be a separate, clear membership application that has the ability to be rejected or approved based on some criteria. This althing allows us to create and operate with it.
